Agent of Inter star confirms €65m bid from ‘one of’ Man City, Man United, Barcelona, Real Madrid – City Watch

The agent of in-demand Inter centre-back Milan Skriniar has confirmed that the Serie A club received and rejected a €65million bid from an unnamed club earlier in January.

Karol Csontó, the 22-year-old’s agent, wouldn’t say which club made the proposal but did confirm it was one of Manchester City, Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“I can not be too specific, but one of those clubs came out and made an offer of €65million,” Csontó is quoted as saying by FCInter1908.

“We knew on the first day of January that Inter would not sell Milan, so it was useless.

“One of these clubs was very interested, as I said, I checked and spoke with Inter and they were clear: they can not afford to lose Milan.

“He is an excellent player and it’s no accident that those clubs are watching him. He has a great future.”

With Manchester City having suddenly decided to invest a club-record fee of €65million on Laporte – the same amount Skriniar’s agent says Inter rejected – there is a good chance the Slovakian, who has been linked frequently in recent weeks, was subject to a bid by City.

There have been no real suggestions of Manchester United and Real Madrid looking for a centre-back in January, while Barcelona signed Yerry Mina from Palmeiras this month.

With Laporte now signed, it seems unlikely City will continue their pursuit of Skriniar, even if Eliaquim Mangala and Vincent Kompany were to leave the club in the near future, with John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi and Aymeric Laporte three big names available in the position.
