AC Milan and Inter Milan approach Manchester City winger but are knocked back – report – City Watch
Yesterday we learned that Jesus Navas is one of five players who are now confirmed to be on their way out of Manchester City in what promises to be a summer of change.
The 31-year-old frustrated many Blues, but played his part in several trophy wins, particularly in the double-winning 2013-14 season. Pep Guardiola had wanted him to stick around another year as a back-up right-back, with both Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna leaving, but it wasn’t to be.
All signs point to Navas returning home to Sevilla, the club he joined at the age of 15 and played until his £14.9 million move to Manchester City in 2013. They have offered him a three-year deal with the option of a fourth and he has always dreamed of a return to Nervión for the final years of his career.
However, there is Italian interest in the player, with Roma previously reported to have made a play for him, after Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi jumped to the Serie A side. And according to an exclusive report by Calciomercato.it, two other Italian giants have recently shown interest.
The news portal reports that AC Milan and rivals Inter have made approaches to the player’s representatives recently to evaluate whether the Spanish winger would be interested in accepting a new adventure in Italy after four years in England.
Unsurprisingly, Navas is not likely to change his mind about returning to Sevilla, which is why he turned down City’s offer to stay in the first place. The speedy winger had to overcome chronic homesickness in order to move to Manchester in 2013, and at this stage of his career a move to Italy is unlikely to have great appeal.
And so the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán awaits the return of one of its golden boys, with Navas in line for a great ovation when his return is made official and he is unveiled for the second time as a Sevilla player.
