West Brom want Manchester City’s Eliaquim Mangala as part of the expected deal that will see former Manchester United defender Jonny Evans move to the Etihad.

According to both the Mail on Sunday and Sun on Sunday, Tony Pulis has asked for 26-year-old Mangala, preferably on a loan deal, as a direct replacement for Evans.

City would prefer to sell Mangala permanently, but the player has already turned down such offers from Spartak Moscow and Stoke City this summer, leaving City with a matter of days to offload the big-money flop.

Inter Milan have been in pole position for Mangala and have the player’s agreement, but suddenly there are doubts about that deal with Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi giving his nod to a move to the San Siro, jeopardising Mangala’s hopes of moving there.

That could leave City scrambling for a taker in the final days of the window, and Tony Pulis wants to take advantage of this by taking the former FC Porto man to The Hawthorns.
