Watch: David Silva closes in on Fernando Torres with 33rd Spain goal (and it’s a beauty!) – City Watch

David Silva continues to find the net for Spain at a much quicker rate than he does in the sky blue of Manchester City.

The 31-year-old tonight scored an absolute peach of a free kick against Liechtenstein to take his tally to 33 for Spain. That puts him just five goals behind third all-time top scorer Fernando Torres. Silva also ranks third in combined goals and assists with 58 (33+25), just three contributions behind Raúl González.

The magician is said to be in talks over a new one-year contract extension at the Etihad Stadium, which would keep him in Manchester until the age of 34, before he sees out plans to retire with Las Palmas.
