Tottenham have made a late attempt to replace Kyle Walker, who is expected to join Manchester City when a fee is agreed, with the player City want to rotate with Walker – Dani Alves.

While City have been waiting for Juventus to legally rescind the 34-year-old’s contract, Spurs have made a bid to hijack the Blues’ move for Alves, according to Martin Blackburn of The Sun.

Mauricio Pochettino would like to bring in Alves to share the load at right-back with former City academy player, Kieran Trippier, and Alves on a free transfer would be a coup for any club.

However, Alves is reported to have his heart set on a reunion with his former boss from Barcelona, Pep Guardiola, which has even lead to him turning down a superior financial offer from Chelsea to instead move to the Etihad.

City are confident of seeing off both Spurs and Chelsea for Alves, who has verbally agreed a two-year contract and will sign once all the red tape has been sorted.
