Tireless Bernardo Silva sets 2018-19 Premier League record against Liverpool – City Watch

City Watch

Pep Guardiola showered praise on his workhorse playmaker Bernardo Silva after a herculean effort for Manchester City against Liverpool tonight at the Etihad Stadium.

The 24-year-old Portuguese star was all over the pitch and never stopped running, putting in a defensive shift for the ages while also showing his renowned attacking skills.

“He did everything,” Pep said about Bernardo. “He is the smallest one but shows us that to play football you don’t have to be taller or more physical. He is incredible. I haven’t seen performance like that in a while.”

And the statistics back up just how hard Bernardo worked, with the midfielder setting a new record for the current season.

Bernardo ran the most distance against Liverpool of any player in the Premier League this season, clocking 13.7km, breaking his own record of 13.65km against Tottenham back in October.
