Swansea to move for £13m Wilfried Bony after selling Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton – report – City Watch
Swansea City remain hopeful of re-signing striker Wilfried Bony from Manchester City – but are waiting for the estimated £50million they hope to receive from Everton for midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson before making an official move.
The 28-year-old, who has also been linked with a move to Marseille, is one of Paul Clement’s main targets, along with West Brom’s Nacer Chadli, but the difficulties in agreeing a fee with Everton for Sigurdsson has delayed potential deals for the two.
Matt Law of the Telegraph reports that once Sigurdsson’s sale to Everton is finalised, Swansea hope to reinvest part of the funds into a deal for Bony, with Manchester City valuing the player at £13million – around half of what they paid Swansea for him in January 2015.
Bony has scored 10 goals in 46 appearances for City, and had a disappointing loan spell at Stoke last season, making just ten Premier League appearances with both of his goals ironically coming against former club Swansea.
For now, the Ivorian continues to train with City but it appears to be only a matter of time before he is on his way, with Swansea in pole position to re-sign a player who was a big fan favourite during his previous stint at the Welsh club.
