Sevilla open talks with agent of Manchester City winger Jesus Navas over return – City Watch

City Watch

The agents of Manchester City winger Jesus Navas have held their first official with his former club Sevilla over a return this summer, Radio Marca Sevilla reports.

The same source broke the news earlier in the week that a meeting was due to take place on Friday, and it did so at around noon.

No new details are known except that Sevilla have presented an offer that Navas’ representatives will relay to the 31-year-old.

The winger has a big decision to make now, having also been offered a new one-year deal at Manchester City by Pep Guardiola, who has favoured him as a right-back over two naturals in that position, Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna. Those two are set to leave the club, with Pep viewing Navas as an able deputy to whichever right-back arrives in the summer – Kyle Walker seems to be the favourite, but Nélson Semedo of Benfica and Arsenal’s Héctor Bellerín are also mentioned.

Sevilla most likely will not be able to match the salary on offer from City, but the pull of a return to Nervión and the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán could prove tempting for a player who has publicly spoken of his desire to end his career back home.

Marca appears fairly confident that Navas will snub City’s new contract offer, claiming that if nothing goes wrong, one of Sevilla’s favourite sons will be back for next season. If Navas was to leave, it begs the question of if Zabaleta or Sagna might get a reprieve from Guardiola and stay on for another season.
