Sergio Aguero has been left out of the Argentina squad for upcoming fixtures, along with soon to depart Manchester City team-mate Pablo Zabaleta.

However, there is a place for Nicolas Otamendi in the squad, which is set to be coached by Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli in the near future after Edgardo Bauza was sacked.

Argentina’s arch-rivals Brazil have called up both Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho for friendlies against Argentina and Australia in June. City targets Alex Sandro and Ederson are also included – perhaps our Samba boys can have a word while on international duty.

Finally, David Silva is of course named in the Spain squad for fixtures against Colombia and Macedonia. There is no place for either Nolito or Jesus Navas.
