Released Manchester City star favours move to Chelsea over Newcastle – report – City Watch
Manchester City’s Wembley hero Willy Caballero could line up against the Blues for a major Premier League rival next season, with champions Chelsea reportedly in for him.
According to journalist Gary Jacobs of The Times, the 35-year-old is favouring a move to Chelsea over Newcastle, who are also keen to snap him up on a free transfer.
Newcastle are offering him more and he would almost certainly be their first-choice goalkeeper, but the appeal of London is a factor in him preferring Chelsea.

Caballero would assume a similar role at Chelsea to the one he originally had at Man City, where he played second fiddle to Joe Hart and Claudio Bravo. Bravo’s alarmingly poor form last season led to Willy replacing him between the sticks, where he proved to be a reliable option.
Chelsea are in the market for a new reserve shot-stopper after agreeing to sell Asmir Begovic to Bournemouth in a £10 million deal, and Caballero is one of the best options on the market.
With his contract up this summer, City decided not to renew it and have signed 23-year-old Ederson Moraes from Benfica, pending an official announcement.
