Manchester City’s October trip to Tottenham likely to be delayed a day – report – City Watch

Manchester City’s problematic away fixture against Tottenham in October may finally have a resolution after rumours that a stadium like Twickenham could host it, with Spurs’ new stadium not ready and Wembley scheduled to host an NFL game on Sunday October 28.

Tottenham are due to host the Premier League champions on October 28 at 4pm but according to the Daily Mail, to overcome the problem of having no obvious location for the game, all parties are now close to agreeing a day-long delay which would enable Wembley to be used.

That would move the Tottenham vs. City game to Monday October 29 in an evening timeslot, an inconvenience to travelling fans from Manchester on a working night, but logistically the only way Wembley could be used with an NFL game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Philadelphia Eagles locked in for October 28.

There will still be the challenge of making the Wembley pitch ready for a Premier League fixture just 24 hours after it hosts an American Football game, but that is looking like the most likely outcome.

Before agreeing to the Monday kick-off, which would then possibly delay a Carabao Cup fourth-round tie to the Thursday and push City’s next Premier League game back to the Sunday, Blues bosses may wait to see the outcome of next week’s Champions League draw.
