Manchester City youngster returns to Spanish club after recent release – City Watch
Espanyol have re-signed young left-back Erik Sarmiento following his departure from Manchester City.
A former Spain under-16 international, Sarmiento was one of seven players released by City in June, a list headlined by Yaya Touré.
The player joined the Blues in 2015 from Espanyol’s youth set-up and was highly thought of by City’s academy scouts, but didn’t progress enough for them to offer him new terms this summer.
Erik has signed a two-year deal with Espanyol and will initially play for their B team with the hope being that he can push for a place in their first team in the years to come.
