Manchester City academy winger Henri Ogunby has signed his first professional deal with the club.

The Bolton-born 17-year-old is one of the many highly-rated English youngsters in the academy and announced on his social media accounts that he has been given a professional contract.

Ogunby made 27 appearances in the U18 Premier League last season, scoring 9 goals and registering 9 assists.

Speaking exclusively to City Watch in March, Henri said his style is unlike other players and that led to him getting spotted by City scouts.

“The way I play is my own style as I haven’t really seen someone play my way,” he said. “I was playing two years up, so when I was at under-12’s I was playing at under-14’s level. I got spotted by City and negotiations went from there.”

Several other youngsters will be signing professional terms, but Benni Smales-Braithwaite, Nathan Broome, Harold Essien, Harry Boys and Pascal Kpohomouh have been released from the academy, with Broome joining Stoke.
