Manchester City target Youri Tielemans as part of a £250m summer overhaul – City Watch

Manchester City have put Anderlecht teenage sensation Youri Tielemans on the top of their summer shopping list, according to Sky Sports.

The 19-year-old, already capped three times by Belgium, is one of Europe’s most highly-rated young midfielders and his ability to score spectacular long range efforts have led to comparisons to Frank Lampard.

City could use a Lampard, with a lack of goals coming from midfield, and Pep Guardiola has identified Tielemans as a priority signing this summer.

Tielemans has been reportedly close to joining Monaco, while Everton also want to sign him, but interest from City could cause him to rethink his plans, especially as Guardiola has proven he will play youngsters if he believes they are of the right standard – Leroy Sané and Gabriel Jesus being two examples.

Tielemans is just one of several City want to bring in, with Sky sources also claiming that Pep also wants full-backs Benjamin Mendy of Monaco, Ryan Bertrand of Southampton and Tottenham’s Kyle Walker, along with Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk and Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez.

City could spend up to £250 million to give Guardiola the squad he wants this summer, with six players out of contract and several others on the chopping block after a disappointing season.

For a limited time, you can get your hands on a Manchester City official shirt from just £30 for adults and £22.50 for children.
