Manchester City have continued their aggressive youth recruitment by snapping up highly-rated Turkish goalkeeper, Berke Özer, according to an exclusive report by Sport Witness.

The Turkey under-17 international, who has been dubbed the ‘Turkish Donnarumma’, will join from his club Altınordu in a year’s time when he turns 18, with City shelling out a fee of around £2 million.

Özer was linked with a move to the Etihad last year by ESPN and now Sport Witness has received information that the Blues have snapped up another Turkish wonderkid after landing Enes Ünal from Bursaspor two years ago.

Despite his tender age – he doesn’t turn 17 until next week – Özer has already made two first-team appearances for Altınordu in the 1. Lig, Turkey’s second tier, playing 90 minutes against Boluspor and Balikesirspor in April.

City recently received a ban on signing academy players after being found guilty of ‘tapping up’ two schoolboy players, but this applies only to Premier League and EFL youngsters, meaning there is no rule against them going for foreign talents.
