Manchester City set to loan England under-21 starlet to former club – City Watch

Angus Gunn is set to sign for former club Norwich City on a loan deal, according to the Eastern Daily Press.

Gunn left Norwich for Manchester City back in 2011 and could well make a return due to the exit of John Ruddy, who is set to be released when his contract expires.

It’s expected that the 21-year-old will join Norwich City on loan once Manchester City announce the signing of Ederson Moraes from Benfica, which would see Gunn fall down the pecking order to at least third place, behind Ederson and Claudio Bravo.

City will be keen to keep hold of the young international, who is home-grown and has recently been selected for the England under-21 side, for the future as he is an exciting prospect with his best years above him – meaning a sale at this stage would be ruled out.

However, a loan deal would be the best option for all parties, allowing Gunn to gain vital first-team experience similar to Joe Hart’s move to Birmingham at the start of his Manchester City career.
