Manchester City lead the race to sign PSG defender Dan-Axel Zagadou – City Watch

City Watch

Manchester City appear to lead the race to sign highly rated 17 year old defender Dan-Axel Zagadou when his contract at PSG expires in June of this year. Zagadou is apparently refusing to sign a first team contract with Paris in order to move to another club.

It was first reported in January that City were getting close to signing the centre-back and it seems that things have escalated since then with Manchester City coming out as front-runners for his signature, ahead of Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig. Zagadou’s interest in City stems from a reported personal tour around the Etihad campus from Pep Guardiola.

Zagadou is described by some as one of the best defenders in the world for his age and PSG are desperate to keep hold of him but despite their best efforts they are ‘fairly pessimistic’ of doing so.

It is likely that if City sign Zagadou then he will initially be playing for one of the club’s youth teams but with defensive frailties on show to the world this year, Zagadou may get some first team action next season.
