Manchester City and Manchester United in straight fight for 24-year-old full-back – report – City Watch
Manchester City and Manchester United are, not for the first time, poised to do battle off the pitch for the signing of an in-demand talent, according to an exclusive report by Tuttomercatoweb.
For the second time in as many days, 24-year-old Paris Saint-Germain right-back, Serge Aurier, is linked with a move to the Etihad, but this latest report also claims that United are keen on signing the wantaway Ivory Coast international.
France Football first claimed that Aurier was back on City’s radar, but only as a back-up plan in case the Kyle Walker deal goes south. The main difference with the TMW story is that they label him a ‘prime choice’ for Guardiola’s Man City overhaul, and Walker is not mentioned at all.
Sam Lee of Goal recently reported that should they eventually finalise moves for Walker and Benjamin Mendy, City will look for a third full-back, and with no senior right-backs on the books after Pablo Zabaleta, Bacary Sagna and Jesus Navas left, it is possible that Walker and Aurier could arrive.
For Man United, he is listed as a ‘luxury alternative’ to Nélson Semedo, who the Reds plan to go back to Benfica for after completing the signing of highly-rated centre-back Victor Lindelöf.
PSG are said to already be in search of a right-back to replace the talented Aurier, who could be heading to Manchester – but which side?
