Juventus withdrawal puts Man City and Man United in a two-way tussle for midfielder – City Watch

City Watch

AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho has emerged as one of Manchester City’s primary summer targets according to various reports, but the Blues could face competition from nearby.

Romeo Agresti of Goal Italia, widely considered to be the most reliable source for Juventus news, is reporting that the Serie A champions have wanted to sign Fabinho, but are being priced out by a €40 million (£34.5 million) valuation placed on him.

However, that price-tag is not deterring Manchester City or Manchester United, who Agresti reports are locked in a Manchester derby to sign the talented 23-year-old this summer.

Another well-respected source, Gerard Romero, recently claimed that City were close to striking a deal for Fabinho, who can also play at right-back but has been used exclusively as a midfielder this season.

Juventus may no longer pose any threat, and are now looking at potentially cheaper options such as Corentin Tolisso of Lyon and Barcelona legend Andrés Iniesta, but if City are to land the Monaco ace, Pep Guardiola may have to fend off interest from Jose Mourinho.
