Jesus Navas saga could take another twist with meeting planned this week – report – City Watch

Where does Jesus Navas’ future lie? Manchester City have offered the 31-year-old winger a new deal to remain at the club for one more year after Pep Guardiola praised his performances at right-back.

And when a wealthy Premier League club offers a new contract, a player approaching his twilight years will usually sign it. But for Jesus Navas, there is the emotional pull of a return to Sevilla that gives him another option. The World Cup winning Spaniard had to overcome severe homesickness to join City and has spoken publicly of his desire to see out his career in Nervión, home of Sevilla’s Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

The third option for Navas has been AS Roma in Italy, who have recruited famous sporting director Monchi from Sevilla, a man with a close relationship to Navas. But they are the outsider pick, with a stay at City or return to Sevilla more realistic.

And according to Radio Marca Sevilla, a contract renewal at City isn’t as clear-cut as it may have seemed, with Navas’ representatives set for talks with Sevilla later this week. This will be the first official meeting about a deal and the Andalusian club have yet to make any sort of formal offer.

If Sevilla are to bring home their prodigal son, they are going to have to dig deep and offer him a good salary, because City are happy to give him a new deal on similar terms to what he has had since arriving in 2013. Navas is said to be open to both possibilities, and even if he does opt for an extra year in Manchester, it may only delay his return to Sevilla.
