Paquetá, 20, is a Brazil youth international and in 9 appearances, has scored 3 goals and registered 2 assists in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A this season.

Real Madrid are also being linked with the super-talent, but the story from Esporte Interativo claims City are ready to pay his release clause of around £40million to bypass negotiations with Flamengo.

If City were to pay the release clause, all they would need is Paquetá’s consent to complete another signing straight from Brazil following the acquisitions of Gabriel Jesus and Douglas Luiz in recent years.

Paquetá is under contract with Flamengo until 2019 and City’s approach could guarantee the Brazilian club a big pay day for their latest wonderkid.
