This is slightly surprising following a report by Fotomaç that he had snubbed Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe because he didn’t fancy a move to Turkey.
However, the 31-year-old is in Istanbul tonight and beIN SPORTS says it is for talks with Başakşehir, the side that performed so well in the Süper Lig last season by finishing second, behind only champions Beşiktaş.
Of course, it is possible that he could also talks to Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe while in Istanbul, but if he does choose to join Başakşehir, he would play alongside former teammate Emmanuel Adebayor, who scored 7 goals in 12 appearances for the club last season.
Clichy has also been linked with Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Bordeaux, but it appears that his future could be in Turkey after all.
