Borussia Dortmund hope to replace Emre Mor by beating Arsenal & Spurs to Manchester City starlet – report – City Watch
Borussia Dortmund remain ‘seriously interested’ in signing troubled Manchester City wonderkid Jadon Sancho, today’s edition of Kicker reports.
The 17-year-old appears destined to leave the Etihad Stadium after refusing to pen a new £30,000-a-week deal amid fears that his pathway to Pep Guardiola’s first team will be blocked by the abundance of attacking talent at the club.
And while rivals Arsenal and Tottenham have been mooted as the favourites to sign the London boy, Borussia Dortmund may be able to offer him quicker integration into Peter Bosz’s first team and the promise of playing in front of 80,000 fans regularly.
BVB are at risk of losing Ousmane Dembélé to Barcelona, but it isn’t Sancho who is being lined up to replace him – that would be Lyon attacker Maxwel Cornet.
It is Emre Mor, who is heading to Inter Milan in Serie A, that the Bundesliga side see Sancho as an ideal replacement for. Dortmund are ready to roll out the red carpet for Sancho, which while depriving a domestic rival of his talents and potential, would mean City getting a much lower compensation fee than they would if he joined an English side.
City still hope to persuade Sancho that his future is in Manchester by laying out a pathway to the first team, but the England youth international has yet to be convinced.
