Blackburn hold ‘positive talks’ with Manchester City about signing forward – report – City Watch

Blackburn Rovers are looking to use their good relationship with Manchester City to sign a forward from the Premier League champions, the Lancashire Telegraph reports.

The newly-promoted Championship side already pulled off a coup this summer by signing highly-rated Jacob Davenport from City, and have held ‘positive talks’ about signing an unnamed forward, it is reported.

Though the player’s identity isn’t clear, what is known is that he has joined City’s pre-season tour of the United States, holding up the deal, and this narrows down the candidates.

Young prodigy Lukas Nmecha would be the first name that springs to mind, with the 19-year-old ready for more senior football after two Premier League cameos and one appearance in the Carabao Cup last season for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Another young striker on tour with the Blues is Nabil Touaizi, who was signed from Valencia in 2017, and is turning heads in the academy. Nabil is considered one of the most exciting attacking prospects at the CFA in a long time, but at the age of 17 a spell in the Championship may come a year or so too soon for him.

If the definition of ‘forward’ extends to wingers, Jack Harrison, signed from New York City FC in January before going on loan to Middlesbrough, could be another candidate for a move to Ewood Park.

Tony Mowbray will be hoping to resume talks once City’s commitments in America are over, in the hopes of adding the mystery forward to his ranks.
