It is a moment he would have dreamed of all his life, and that dream came true today as Phil Foden scored his first goal for boyhood club Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Late in the first half, an Ilkay Gundogan pass found Phil, who guided the ball (lucky or deliberate? You decide) into the Rotherham net to give City a 2-0 lead against their FA Cup opponents – which would become 3-0 seconds later.
It wasn’t Foden’s first competitive goal for City – that came against Oxford in the Carabao Cup – but it was his first at the home stadium of the Premier League champions.
