Samir Nasri will again need to find a new club next season with Sevilla almost certain to not take up their chance to sign the 29-year-old, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Nasri was in outstanding form earlier this season as Sevilla emerged as serious title challenges to Real Madrid and Barcelona, but his form has dropped alarmingly, bottoming out with a red card against Leicester in the Champions League.

Even while in peak form, Sevilla were doubtful about signing Samir because of the costs involved, with Mundo Deportivo claiming that City now want €24 million (£20.3 million) for the Frenchman, a fee deemed too prohibitive for the La Liga side’s budget.

Manchester City are unlikely to reintegrate Nasri into the squad, despite Pep Guardiola being an admirer of the player, and bids will be invited. No clubs have been linked with Samir in the media, but a player of his ability is bound to attract some interest.

Nasri had hoped of an extended stay in Andalusia, saying earlier this season that he loved the lifestyle and environment of his new home, and crediting Sevilla for reviving his love of football. However, a decline in form and City’s financial demands mean it is almost impossible that he’ll continue at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium next year.
