Manchester City consider January move for Spain youth international winger – report – City Watch

Manchester City are interested in Sporting Gijon starlet Pelayo Morilla and could move for him in the January transfer window, according to the Mirror.

17-year-old Morilla is a twice-capped Spain under-19 international and scored in their 5-0 rout of Andorra last month. And despite his tender age, the winger is already appearing for Sporting Gijon in Spain’s second tier, the Segunda División.

Considered one of Spain’s brightest young prospects, Morilla has caught the eye of Man City scouts to the degree that they could test Sporting’s resolve with a January bid.

Morilla’s contract at El Molinón has 18 months remaining and is due to expire in June 2020, so unless he signs fresh terms, a generous offer from City could tempt the Spanish club into a sale.

City have a history of recruiting Spanish prospects from Sporting Gijon, having imported Manu García from there in 2014. And Pelayo Morilla could soon follow in Manu’s footsteps if reports of City’s interest are true.
