Manchester City are a step away from landing top midfield target Jorginho from Napoli after a productive day of negotiations between the Premier League champions and Serie A runners-up.

Tonight come further updates from the esteemed Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia who says though no fee is agreed yet, the two sides are close to a compromise.

Manchester City want to pay a little over €45million (€46million or €47million) with Napoli asking for more than €50million. The two parties will continue to haggle and find a compromise based around bonus payments, with an agreement close.

In the event of successful negotiations, Jorginho is ready to sign a five-year contract with City and will sign his contract after returning from national team duty with Italy.

The 26-year-old has reportedly agree personal terms of €4.5million (£3.9million) per season and with minor differences now existing between the clubs, looks destined to become a Manchester City player in the coming days.

Pep Guardiola prioritised the Brazil-born midfielder after cooling his interest in Manchester United-bound thread, and with his ability on the ball, it’s easy to see why.
