Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers may have confirmed Manchester City’s next signing – City Watch

Manchester City are reportedly closing in on the signing of highly-rated Australian wonderkid Daniel Arzani from CFG sister club Melbourne City.

And if they sign the winger, word is that he’ll join PSV Eindhoven or Celtic, with the latter club favoured to take over the teenager’s development for a year.

Asked about the prospect of this happening, Celtic coach Brendan Rodgers admitted that Arzani is a player on his radar, and in doing so may have confirmed that the player is joining City.

“All I know is that he is a young Australian, a very talented player and went to the World Cup where he looked very, very good,” said Rodgers.

“The club are working hard behind the scenes to try and get some signings in. I think he’s been one that has been identified.

“It is not my job. Let’s see what players the club brings in. I work with the players that are here, develop them, improve them, that is my job.”

Unless Celtic plan to sign Arzani directly, which seems unlikely given the fierce competition for his signature, which includes Serie A side Roma, then it would mean they have identified him as a loan signing from City.

Celtic are no strangers to signing young City talents, having had Patrick Roberts on a long-term loan while both Olivier Ntcham and Dedryck Boyata were signed on permanent deals from the Etihad Stadium.
