Reports yesterday suggested that Manchester City were ‘very close’ to agreeing a deal to sign Alexis Sánchez, with the attacking deciding that a move to the Etihad Stadium would be his preference.

That has today been echoed by a report from Goal, who report that Sánchez wants to move to Manchester City in the summer, despite interest from Chelsea, Manchester United and PSG.

It is believed that both Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho have made contact with the player in order to convince him to join their respective clubs, but it is Pep Guardiola who is set to win the race.

Of course, Chelsea have also shown a concrete desire to bring the Arsenal forward across London, however Arsenal’s desire to sell to Chelsea will be even less than their will to sell to Manchester City.

Arsenal would prefer the player to leave the club for a team abroad if he is to leave in the summer, however, the player wants to stay in England. It makes for a difficult situation for Arsenal, who could refuse to sell him to an English club, but then may lose him on a free transfer in 2018. The big question is, will Arsenal want to miss out on a large fee this summer?
