One thing is certain heading into the summer: Pep Guardiola will not be bringing Manchester City fan favourite Joe Hart back into the fold and the 29-year-old is almost certain to be on his way out of the club.

Pep is known for his big, often controversial decisions, and the one to let Hart join Torino on loan last summer was unpopular with many City fans. The replacement, Claudio Bravo, now finds himself sat on the bench behind Hart’s former back-up ‘keeper, Willy Caballero.

Even so, Pep is more likely to dip into the market than bring Hart back, with the likes of Ederson Moraes and Jordan Pickford said to be on his radar.

Today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport brings up one possible scenario that could sort out Joe Hart’s future and allow Manchester City to nab one of Europe’s most prolific upcoming strikers in the process.

Andrea Belotti has recently been linked with a move to City, as he has with most of Europe’s big clubs after scoring 24 goals in 27 appearances this season. Despite a prohibitive €100 million (£86.9 million) release clause, valid only for foreign clubs, Torino will be lucky to hold on to the 23-year-old come the end of the season.

And the print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport has brought up the possible scenario of him joining City with Hart used as a makeweight. The Granata would love to keep Hart and are trying to make that happen, but with big Premier League clubs sniffing, the Serie A club would find it hard to both meet the asking price and match his salary.

By including Hart in any deal for Belotti, it would allow Siniša Mihajlović’s side to bring in England’s number one at no real transfer fee, leaving them with only his salary to worry about.

Could this deal happen? Is Belotti actually on Pep Guardiola’s radar or is this more paper talk? It is an interesting scenario going into the summer market, with Pep thought to want at least one more attacking player for his squad.
