Málaga approach Manchester City about signing their most exciting academy talent – report

In Brahim Díaz, Manchester City have potentially one of the future stars of world football. Since joining from hometown club Málaga several years ago, the diminutive attacking midfielder has lit up the youth ranks at City with Messi-like skills.

Brahim, who is represented by the brother of Pep Guardiola, Pere, has caught the eye of Pep who handed the youngster his first-team debut in September 2016, when he replaced Kelechi Iheanacho against Swansea City in the EFL Cup.

With such exceptional talent, it is only a matter of time until the 17-year-old exits the reserve set-up in search of some first-team football, and his former club have already come knocking.

According to SER Málaga (via AS), Brahim is on the radar of Málaga, the club that raised him until they reluctantly sold him to City. And sporting director Francesc Arnau has already made an approach with a view to reuniting Brahim with the La Rosaleda next season.

This would obviously be a loan deal, with City having no interest in selling one of their young jewels. And Málaga are not the only club interested in the youngster’s talents, with other European teams making proposals to the player and club.

Brahim is already aware of interest from his former club, and as one of Pep Guardiola’s ‘spoiled children’ as AS puts it, he will go on Manchester City’s summer tour of America before any decision about his future is made.

It may be too soon for Guardiola to integrate Brahim, who isn’t 18 until August, into his first-team squad and a season developing under former Real Madrid star, Míchel, could be a good option for all parties.
