Gael Clichy could keep up his record of joining top Premier League clubs by joining Liverpool – if movement in the bookies’ odds is anything to go by.
A flurry of bets on Liverpool to be the 31-year-old’s next club have seen odds cut from 7/1 this morning to 7/2 at Sky Bet as of Tuesday afternoon.
It is unclear if this is someone’s guesswork or the movement in the market reflects a deal in the making. Kyle Walker’s odds on joining Manchester City from Spurs shortened suddenly and within hours news emerged in the press that he was a serious summer target for the Blues.
Clichy’s odds are not yet short enough to suggest anything for sure, but such a move in the market is interesting. The Frenchman, who is out of contract in June and announced yesterday that he will be departing the Etihad after six years, has also been linked with a move to Sam Allardyce’s Crystal Palace, along with City team-mate Bacary Sagna.
