According to The Sun, Manchester City are likely to sign Valerenga midfielder Ghayas Zahid after successful talks in January.

The 22-year-old Norwegian midfielder played 32 games for the Valerenga first-team during the 2016 campaign, notching up a tally of 9 goals. He is currently a regular for the Norway under-21 side and is said to be on the verge of breaking into the country’s first-team.

Pep Guardiola’s men have sent scouts to closely watch Ghayas Zahid and they were spotted at Valerenga’s friendly against Zenit St Petersburg back in January, in which they lost 1-0.

Speaking about the move, Zahid said it was nearly done in January before Manchester City changed their mind – they would rather wait until the summer before completing the move.

Ghayas Zahid said:

“It seemed like I was going to join them but they changed their minds two days before the transfer window closed. They prefer to wait until the summer.”
