Manchester City played host to Everton tonight in a game that saw both teams share the points after each lost a man to two yellow cards. Walker and Schneiderlin were sent off for their respective clubs – both could be argued to be harsh dismissals – whilst Rooney and Sterling scored the goals. City opted to go with a back three again with Sané deployed as a left-wing back. He often found himself out of position and completely unaware of his responsibilities, rendering him ineffective, not only at the back but up front as well.
Wing-backs and the referee were the main talking points of the game on Twitter so here’s what you had to say:
3 at the back?
Think we are wasting key players with 3 cbs and 2 wb- need to let Sane and Sterling off the leash as wingers #mcfc

Don't ruin Sane by playing him at wing back again. #mcfc

Pep has a problem trying to squeeze Aguero and Jesus in the team. Maybe he needs to bench one of them but who? #mcfc

Referee at fault?
@FA tonight's refereeing was atrocious, how can this be the standard? #efc #mcfc #mcfceve

It was a fantastic goal by Raheem Sterling..!! #MCFC— Seanthedrum (@blucat650) August 21, 2017
Well the best to be said for that is that we don't have to play against Bobby Madeley every week. #MCIEVE #MCFC

Seen replay #Walker never a second Yellow. Under new #PL rules shouldn't Calvert-Lewin get a retrospective ban for diving? #MCFC #MCIEVE

A positive view to end on.
Good result in the circumstances. Lads showed great spirit. Danilo, Sterling and Bernardo all great when they came on. Onwards #mcfc
