City Summary – August 29: Bid for Sanchez rejected, City and Stoke in talks for Delph, improved offer for Evans

It’s time to catch up on today’s news – here’s your City Summary:

Well, we may as well rename today’s City Summary as Alexis Sanchez Summary, as it’s all been about that man. The day started with the news that Manchester City had offered Raheem Sterling as part of a deal:

Some sources say that Sergio Aguero is also a target for Arsenal in a deal for Alexis Sanchez:

However Manchester City aren’t interested in a cash plus player deal and would like to do a cash deal only:

Sanchez is desperate for a move to reunite with Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are ready to send officials to Chile in order to complete a move after it emerged that his request to leave the national camp had been rejected:

More reports backed up a cash-only deal and confirmed that Manchester City are not interested in allowing Raheem Sterling or Sergio Aguero to go the other way. They also said that Sanchez has submitted an official document requesting leave from Chile in order to sort out a move away from Arsenal:

And then the story was turned on its head, Sky sources reported that Arsenal were willing to pay Manchester City for Raheem Sterling plus Alexis Sanchez:

Later on in the day came the news that Manchester City had a £50 million offer rejected for Sanchez and talks will continue – it is believed City will come back with an improved offer in the next 48 hours:

Away from news regarding Alexis Sanchez and onto transfer news about Jonny Evans, which also includes Arsenal. Arsenal are the latest club to enter the race for Evans however Manchester City will attempt to move ahead with an offer worth up to £30 million which could include a loan move for Eliaquim Mangala:

Fabian Delph has been linked with a move to Stoke City this window however the chances are slim due to Delph’s lack of interest:

Although other sources say that Delph may well join Stoke after all for a fee of around £10 million:

And finally, the date for Manchester City’s tie against West Brom in the Carabao Cup has been confirmed as Wednesday 20th September with an 8 o’clock kick-off:
