Brighton ready £10m bid for Manchester City midfielder with Sunderland and Middlesbrough keen

Manchester City could cash in on a player who cost them nothing, has never played a first-team game, and is now valued in the region of £10 million.

The player is 26-year-old Australian international, Aaron Mooy, who has enjoyed an excellent year on loan at Huddersfield Town and could yet help lift them to the Premier League if they overcome Reading in the Championship playoff final a week from today.

It was recently claimed in an exclusive by SBS that six clubs had made bids for the £10 million rated midfielder, two of them coming from Premier League sides Newcastle and Crystal Palace. Other offers are said to have arrived from Championship clubs Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Derby County.

But according to The Sun on Sunday, newly-promoted Brighton and Hove Albion will also make a bid as soon as Huddersfield’s playoff final is over and done with. Chris Hughton wants the Aussie to strengthen his squad for their arrival in the Premier League and is set to offer him a permanent contract.

Sunderland and Middlesbrough are two other sides interested in the former Melbourne City midfielder, but with both dropping to the Championship, they may have trouble convincing him. City could use this interest to start a bidding war and add the funds to what promises to be a very expensive overhaul at the Etihad this summer.
