‘Arrogant’ Samir Nasri lined up by Roma as €40m Riyad Mahrez proves too expensive – report

Despite being taken on the US tour by Pep Guardiola, Samir Nasri’s future is almost certainly away from Manchester City.

Today, almost every newspaper in the country had information courtesy of a ‘source’ at City that Nasri’s attitude on the pre-season tour was making some City players frustrated.

This source, or leak, told the Telegraph: “Some of the players don’t understand why Nasri is even here.

“He has an arrogant attitude and doesn’t appear to care. He knows he will be leaving and he’s turning out to be someone who shouldn’t be on the trip. The club can’t wait to get rid of him.”

The club and this group of players who find Nasri’s attitude offensive could soon get their wish, with Roma sporting director Monchi looking into signing Samir for the second summer running.

Mochi took the 30-year-old on loan to Sevilla last season, and according to Corriere della Sera in Italy, is considering doing the same again at his new club, Roma.

Nasri is seen as a much more affordable alternative to Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez by the Serie A club, with the Algerian’s price-tag a very prohibitive €40million. Though Nasri’s high salary could be an obstacle for Roma, they could sign him for possibly less than half of what Mahrez is available for.

If Roma can’t strike a deal with Leicester for Mahrez, then it is reported that Nasri will be the first-choice alternative – which would only be a good thing for all parties at this point after claims from the City camp that Nasri has been a toxic influence in the US.

Were he to arrive at the Stadio Olimpico, Nasri would be reunited with Edin Dzeko and Aleksandar Kolarov, a duo he won the Premier League with twice at Man City.
