Joe Hart to West Ham: How much will the loan deal cost both sides? – City Watch

City Watch

Joe Hart is set to join West Ham United on a loan deal with an option-to-buy clause and the Manchester Evening News have revealed the financial aspects of the deal.

It was believed that the England international completed his West Ham medical yesterday and a deal could be announced in the very near future, once some minor deals have been ironed out.

The MEN report that Manchester City will pay just under 50% of his £4.5 million salary, which equates to around £2million. The rest of Hart’s wages will then be funded by West Ham United.

The total cost of the loan is reported to be around the £4.5 million mark, which means that Manchester City will receive around £2.5million from West Ham once wages are deducted from that figure.

However, Manchester City will still owe Joe Hart image rights, which will reduce the amount ultimately received for the loan deal, and if that surpasses the £2.5 million mark then Manchester City may well make a loss out of the deal overall.
