David Ornstein (BBC): Arsenal could sell Alexis Sanchez this summer if he is set on going – City Watch

City Watch

Arsenal could budge on their reported refusal to sell star player Alexis Sanchez this summer, according to reliable BBC journalist David Ornstein.

Ornstein says that while Arsenal have made Alexis a big contract offer and hope he stays, if he has his heart set on a move – with Manchester City said to be the only team left in the hunt for his services – then he could go provided the fee is acceptable.

#AFC made Sanchez big offer, hope he stays. But if set on leaving + fee acceptable possible he’ll go this summer rather than free next #MCFC

It is suggested that £50million should be enough considering Sanchez is heading into the final year of his deal at the Emirates. And it’s now widely reported that the 28-year-old is very keen to link up with Pep Guardiola again, although yesterday he refused to confirm his plans except to say he knows what he wants to do.

Sanchez is one of Pep Guardiola’s priority targets this summer and Arsenal are close to landing Alexandre Lacazette, the free-scoring Lyon forward who could certainly replace Alexis’ goals, even though Arsene Wenger would undoubtedly like the two to share the pitch as teammates.

Arsenal close to completing Lacazette deal. Final fee almost agreed & he’ll then have medical & finalise terms to become #AFC record signing
